Is there anything better than waking up to a sight like this? Everything covered in white, looking like a winter wonderland? I hardly think so! It made me very cheerful (which is quite rare for me in the morning) and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” has been stuck in my head for a few hours now, and I don’t even mind.
You see, this is the first snow the Netherlands has seen this winter. I can imagine a lot of people in the United States being quite sick of the snow by now, but up here we’re still pretty excited, at least I am.
I just looked out of the window to my right to see it has started to snow again! Yay!
That’s the funny thing about snow: every year, when the first snow falls, I (and many others with me) am so excited. At the same time, however, I know I’ll be sick of it a few days or maybe a week later. Every single year, that’s the way it goes. By the time March rolls around I’ll be the first to say “I hate snow!”, knowing full well it isn’t entirely true.
I think most people have a love-hate relationship with snow. It’s just so deceiving; it’s so beautiful, which appeals to the romantic side in us, but it’s also so inconvenient when you have somewhere to be, which makes the practical part of us sigh with frustration.
For now, though, I’m going to make myself another warm cup of tea and enjoy this beautiful winter wonderland (from behind the window, that is). They say it’s the little things in life that make you happy, and right now, this is making me very happy.
How do you feel about snow?
how beautiful! Is summer in Sydney but I’ll trade you a day of sun & heat for a day of snow 🙂
Deal! How about tomorrow? 😉
done 🙂
We got our first snow of the winter here in Upper Austria this weekend, too. I’m enjoying it for the time being!
Exactly! I had to walk into town today, over the slippery, semi-melted snow, which was a bit less fun!
