Bout of Books 19

When the end of my internship and thus my university career in general was approaching I was really looking forward to all the time I would have for reading (and blogging). That’s a few months ago now, and I have to say – I’ve not read much at all. I’ve only read 7 books so far this year, which is way too few. Lucky for me, I found out this week that my favourite read-a-thon is having its 19th edition next week.

boutofbooks19The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 8th and runs through Sunday, May 14th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 19 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

I’m not really sure how much time I’ll actually be able to spend on reading next week, but I’ll try my best to read as much as I can and have fun while doing so. That’s what Bout of Books is all about after all!

I’ve been thinking about doing a binge read of the Raven Cycle books by Maggie Stiefvater. I’ve already read the first two books, but I read the second one stretched out over a pretty long period of time, so I wasn’t able to really get into it (although I loved it nonetheless). To really get the full experience, I figure a binge of all four books is in order. Perhaps I’ll start on that next week!

I think I’ll add my daily updates to this post, which I’ll then tweet out every day. Perhaps I’ll also participate in some challenges, most likely on Instagram. We’ll see how it goes! In any case, I’m really excited about participating again.

December Recap and Bout of Books 15 Sign Up

Since I already posted a recap of 2015 and a recap of everything I read in 2015, it felt a bit unnecessary to write an entre Monthly Recap post for December, including all the books I read and bought. Instead, I am just going to provide you with a quick recap of what happened on the blog last month and then move on to my official sign up for Bout of Books 15, the first read-a-thon of the year (if you’re here for that, scroll down)!

Now, as for that recap I was talking about…

That’s it for the posts of December! If you want to keep up to date with the books I read throughout the month, add me on Goodreads! And while I’m busy self-promoting: feel free to follow me on Instagram and Twitter, too.

Bout of Books 15

Last year around this time, I participated in my first ever read-a-thon: Bout of Books 12. Besides having the best time I also made a good head start with my Goodreads reading challenge. While I have a lot less time to read this time around, I do want to try and get as much reading done as possible as well as take part in the fun challenges and the chats on Twitter.

For those of you who are still confused about this Bout of Books things, here’s the official info:

Bout of Books

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 4th and runs through Sunday, January 10th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 15 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog– From the Bout of Books team

I do not expect I will get that much reading done, but I do want to have finished reading Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas and have started Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith at the end of the read-a-thon. There’s still a good chance I won’t be able to manage that, but I’ll try!

Bout of Books 14 – Daily Updates

This will be a sticky post until Sunday, August 23th. Regular posting will continue as usual.

BoB14-200x200As I announced a few days ago, I will be participating in the Bout of Books readathon this week. I’m three books behind on my Goodreads challenge, so this seems like a perfect opportunity to play catch up! I’m so looking forward to an entire week of reading and the weather is abysmal here at the moment, which makes for the perfect reading climate, in my opinion! Lots of cups of tea and curling up on the couch with my books. I love it!

I’ll be updating this post every day throughout the week with my reading progress, but if you want live update, follow me on Twitter (@bookbakeblog).

Goals

It’s not mandatory to come up with any goals for this readathon, but I like goals, so I decided to set a few for myself. They’re pretty much the same as the last time I participated.

Read as much as possible (at least 3 books!) I’m a bit firmer this time around than I was last time. I want to read three books, because I want to catch up on my Goodreads challenge! Therefore, I’m probably going to pick a few thin books for this week.

Chat with people on Twitter I loved the social aspect of Bout of Books last time, so I plan on using Twitter a lot this week. Unfortunately, the first Twitter chat is at a time that I will definitely be in bed (darn those time differences).

Participate in some of the challenges I’ve spotted a few fun challenges to do already, so that’s not going to be a problem I think!

Have fun! That’s what it’s all about, after all.

Now, let’s get started…

Bout of Books 14

In January I found out about this thing called the Bout of Books readathon and decided to join in the fun for the January edition. I had tons of fun with it and was pretty sad that I wasn’t able to join the May readathon because of university stuff.

But next week the fourteenth edition will start, and I have all the time in the world to join in the fun! I’ve been looking forward to this for quite a while now and since I’ve barely read anything when I was in Malta (more on that later!) this comes at just the right time for me to catch up a little on my Goodreads challenge.

For those of you who are wondering about this mysterious reading challenge, here’s the info:

Bout of Books 12 – Wrap Up

BoB12-200x200If you follow me on Twitter, you might have noticed I’ve participated in a little thing called the Bout of Books read-a-thon this week. I’ve also posted daily updates throughout the week, which you can find in this post. But now, it’s time to wrap it up!

This was my very first time participating, and I had a lot of fun! I got a nice head start on my reading for this year, and I interacted with lots of nice people, mainly via Twitter. I think that was the most fun part for me — the sense of community and doing this thing together. There were three Twitter chats throughout the week, and I participated in one of them (unfortunately I couldn’t make it for the other two), and it was just so much fun.

I’ve said that a lot this week. But it was! I’ll definitely be participating again!
