August was a very good month for the blog! I posted pretty consistently (apart from last week) and I’ve been very happy with my content, too. Plus, I finally redid the entire recipe index, and it looks so much more slick and sophisticated now! I also think it’s a lot easier to browse this way. I didn’t read quite as much as I would’ve liked, but I’m fine with that. I had a good month, and that’s what it’s all about.
And now it’s September and my three-month vacation has come to an end – which leads me to my announcement. I started my internship at a publisher’s for school books (among other things) last week Thursday, which means I’ll be doing the whole nine to five (what a way to make a living) thing for four days a week for the next five months. I’ll also be doing a university course on the side, meaning I suspect I’ll be pretty busy. That’s why I’ve decided to temporarily scale back on the blogposts. I’m going to aim at putting out a blogpost once a week, which I think should be manageable, but we’ll see. I just don’t want to make things too hard on myself and since I get stressed easily, I figured a preemptive measure such as this would be the best thing to do. It’s a bit of a bummer that I won’t have that much time for blogging anymore, but I am actually really looking forward to this internship – it looks like it’s going to be really interesting!
Anyway, enough of that! Let’s get to the recap…
Read this Month
Not a lot of reading this month – I went on the emotional rollercoaster that was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and loved it. My Husband’s Wife almost got me into a reading slump, but Summer at Little Beach Street Bakery got me out of that again! I’m currently reading The Dream Thieves, which is the second book in The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, and I’m loving it, but I’m just not getting around to reading a lot, unfortunately.
Reviewed this Month
- I did a spoiler-free post on why I loved Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – it has its flaws, but I took it for it was and really enjoyed it!
- The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater had been on my TBR for a very long time, and when I finally read it I was blown away.
- My post on Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee is more of a discussion than it is an actual review – I explain why I think it should never have been published.
- My Husband’s Wife by Jane Corry was my first ever physical ARC, but sadly I didn’t enjoy it at all.
Baked this Month
It was a very good month for baking! I’m not sure why, but I really had that baking vibe going on, and came up with a few pretty delicious recipes in August.
- White Chocolate Blondies with Mango and Coconut
- Banana and Blueberry Baby Bundt Cakes
- Decadent Three-Layer Brownies
Other Posts this Month
There was only one other post this month, and it was a discussion about reading goals – do they add a fun challenge or just more pressure? It was a fun post to write, and I’ve decided to be more lenient towards myself when it comes to my reading goals! It’s all about having fun, after all.
And that was it for this month! If you want to stay up to date with what’s going on with me, you can follow me on Twitter and Instagram. I’d love to have a chat with you on there! Or down here in the comments, of course.
Good luck with the internship and uni!
